NSU’s Sequoyah Institute presents “It’s a Wonderful Life"

(Tahlequah, Oklahoma) -- Northeastern State University will present Its a Wonderful Life: Live from WVL Radio Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1 at the NSU Center for Performing Arts. The performance is part of the 2017-2018 Sequoyah Institute Performing Arts Series.

Produced by Immediate Theatre Project, an adaptation of Frank Capras film classic, Its a Wonderful Life, will arrive in Tahlequah just in time for the holidays.

The scene is set on Christmas Eve in 1945. Only a handful of WVL Radios actors have braved the blizzard to perform that evenings broadcast of Its a Wonderful Life and keep the station afloat.

This clever stage adaptation breathes new life into the poignant story of George Bailey and Bedford Falls and is sure to be a hit with the whole family.

Interim Dean of the College of Liberal Arts Dr. Robyn Pursley said the Sequoyah Institute is excited to bring this show to campus.

I think the show will be a great jumpstart into the Christmas season and I hope our campus and community take advantage of the opportunity to see it.

In addition to the performance, the company will present a Foley workshop for the NSU drama students. Foley artists produce practical sound effects for productions and were a staple of radio shows in the days of regular radio show broadcasts.

Tickets for the performance can be purchased online at www.nsuok.edu/si, by phone at 918-444-4500 or in person weekdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sequoyah Institute Box Office, now conveniently located at 300 N. Muskogee Ave., at the NSU Playhouse. Tickets will also be available at the Center for the Performing Arts Box Office beginning one hour before show time.

Individual performance tickets, season tickets and group discounts are available. As always, tickets are free for NSU students with a current ID.
