Published: 2018-08-29

(Broken Arrow, Oklahoma) -- Northeastern State University senior Valerie Bojko was recently selected to receive a $10,000 scholarship from the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board.

Bojko, an accounting major from Tulsa, said she hopes to intern at one of the big four accounting firms and work towards becoming a CPA. Her long-term career goals include doing investigative auditing for the FBI or CIA.

Bojko said receiving the PCAOB scholarship is a blessing.

Receiving this scholarship really means a lot to me, Bojko said. Its proof to me that my hard work and dedication means something and has finally paid off. All of the early mornings and late nights, the countless hours Ive spent studying, and the many stressful tears that Ive criedit was all worth it to receive this scholarship.

The PCAOB is a nonprofit corporation established by Congress to oversee the audits of public companies and brokers and dealers. Its merit scholarships were established to encourage students to pursue a career in auditing. Bojko was one of 332 students to receive the 2018 scholarship.
