Published: 2018-07-16

(Tahlequah, Oklahoma) - Anna Blair, a 2018 graduate of Stilwell High School, has been selected as the recipient of the 2018 Northeastern State University Alumni Association Legacy Scholarship.

Blair graduated with a 4.0 grade point average. She was the 2018 Cherokee Queen and varsity cheerleading captain. In high school, she was a member of Arvest Junior Bank Board, Show Choir, Key Club, History Club, Cherokee Club, Beta Club, Math and Science Club, and Cherokee Bowl.

Blairs mom, Billee Tolzien, graduated from NSU in 1990. As a first-generation college student who returned to school at age 29, she graduated cum laude in the top 10 percent of her class.

It means so much to me to be able to receive this scholarship, Blair said. Ive heard so many good things about NSU, and now that I have a chance to be able to have my schooling paid for, I cant thank God enough. This is a major blessing in my life.

Blair plans to obtain her bachelors at NSU then work toward a pharmacy degree. After working in the industry, she would like to return to school for another degree in forensic anthropology.

Anna was an outstanding candidate among a number of outstanding candidates for the Alumni Association Legacy Scholarship, said selection committee chair Lewis Wilson. She was an excellent student in high school, achieving outstanding academic success and serving in numerous extracurricular activities. We have high hopes of what she will accomplish as an NSU student and as a leader with the Future Alumni Network student advisory board.

Since 1998, the NSU Alumni Association has awarded this scholarship annually to an incoming freshman who is the child, grandchild or sibling of NSU alumni. Selected by a committee of Alumni Association board members, the scholarship awards $1,500 per year and is renewable for up to four years.
