(Tahlequah, Oklahoma) - Northeastern State University-Broken Arrow will host an art exhibit by Jan McKay during January in the Visitors Center Gallery of the Administrative Services Building.
McKay specializes in wildlife and commissioned pet portraits, and the theme for her exhibit will be the wildlife that inspires her.
McKay has lived in Australia and England and now lives in the United States. She has 26 years of interior design experience, and a natural eye for beauty and design, which has translated into her paintings.
The shift from designing to painting came after her daughters death in 2008. McKays daughter had trained with an art instructor for three years and after her passing, the instructor suggested McKay try art. Learning under her daughters instructor McKay discovered her love of painting and art and she says the themes of her wildlife paintings reflect the love of mother and child.
