NSU introduces International Bridge Program for graduate studies

Published: 2018-10-09

(Tahlequah, Oklahoma) - Northeastern State University has partnered with Future Overseas Study, Inc., of Weifang, China, to introduce the International Bridge Program for Chinese students who hold a baccalaureate degree and wish to pursue graduate studies in the U.S.

The program is planned as a four-semester program. During the first semester, students will take graduate courses in Weifang under NSU supervision. The students will then complete their graduate studies on NSUs campus in the U.S.

The program model can be generalized to many NSU masters degree programs. Due to strong growth in the Chinese education industry, the program has begun with a focus on four masters degrees in NSUs College of Education.

This semester, the first cohort of six students started the program in China with six hours of graduate coursework taught by Dr. Renée Cambiano and Dr. Maria Christian.

Cambiano, Christian and graduate student Nikki Jones are set to travel to Weifang in November.

The International Bridge Program is a joint project of the Office of Academic Affairs, the Graduate College, the College of Education and the Office of International Programs. Implementation of the program is the result of the work of a steering committee consisting of Dr. Roger Collier, committee coordinator, Dr. Vanessa Anton, Dr. Cari Keller, Dr. Jim Ferrell, Cambiano, Christian, Stephanie Goad and Li Xuan.

FOS is a fully licensed overseas study consulting service provider in China. It is a subsidiary of CIBT with whom NSU has a long-standing relationship.
