(Tahlequah, Oklahoma) - Northeastern State Universitys River City Players begin their 2018 summer season shows on June 21 and tickets are on sale now. Rock and Roll Replay and Country Traditions will rock the NSU Playhouse until Aug. 4.

Dr. Robyn Pursley, chair of Art and Drama and interim dean of the College of Liberal Arts, said River City is truly a Tahlequah and NSU tradition.

It's pretty impressive to think about the fact that this summer series has been around for over 35 years now. I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to continue the tradition."

Rock and Roll Replay will take the audience through a list of timeless rock and roll cover songs. These classic hits have been revisited throughout the ages of rock by a plethora of superstars and now will be replayed by the River City Players. Performances of this show will be Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 2 p.m.

Country Traditions will pay tribute to traditional country music. The audience can expect to hear songs by artists that set the standards for country music style, as well as some who broke the mold. Performances of this show will be Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.

There will be a special Friday matinee of Rock and Roll Replay at 2 p.m. on July 20.

"I am always excited to share a new season of shows with our audience, Pursley said. We have made some minor changes to our schedule this year that will allow our patrons to see the country show on both Friday and Saturday evenings and then the rock and roll show on Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons. We have a great selection of songs and I guarantee that we offer a little something for everyone."

Performances will take place in the NSU Playhouse and tickets cost $13 for adults, $11 for NSU alumni and employees, $10 for seniors and $7 for children. Discounts are available for groups of 12 or more.

The box office summer hours for June 11 through Aug. 4 are Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
