NSU partners with Tulsa Scottish Rite

(Broken Arrow, Oklahoma) - Northeastern State Universitys Gregg Wadley College of Science & Health Professions Speech-Language Pathology Program and Tulsa Scottish Rite have partnered to create an NSU Scottish Rite Masons Clinic on the NSU-Broken Arrow campus. The grand opening of the clinic was Oct. 22.

The Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of the Southern Jurisdiction of the United States began the RiteCare Childhood Language Program to help children with speech and language disorders. The RiteCare clinics have provided diagnostic evaluation and treatment of speech and language disorders, as well as learning disabilities.

TSR has donated equipment for the new NSUBA clinic valued at around $36,000 and has committed to an annual donation of $80,000 for the next three years. The annual donation will support a full-time assistant clinical director for the Broken Arrow clinic to supervise the NSU graduate students providing care for the RiteCare clients. The added donation of the equipment and supplies will enable the graduate students to better serve their clients.

NSU has a speech-language pathology clinic located on all three campuses. They provide speech and language therapy for all ages. The expansion of this program provides children with more opportunity to get the help they need, while also preparing NSU students with professional experience before they graduate.

We are very excited about our partnership with the Tulsa Scottish Rite and appreciate their generosity, Dr. Pamela Hathorn, dean of the Gregg Wadley College of Science & Health Professions, said. The donations will allow the SLP program to expand our services to the RiteCare clients while also providing invaluable immersive learning opportunities for our SLP graduate students.

The NSU Scottish Rite Masons Clinic will be open Mondays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for evaluations and Tuesday and Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for evaluations and therapy.
