(Tahlequah, Oklahoma) - Northeastern State University Professor Dr. Stephan Sargent has been selected as the recipient of AdvancEDs Midwest Regions 2018 Servant Leadership Recognition Award for Oklahoma.

Sargent serves as the director for NSUs Center for Reading and Literacy.

Dr. Sargent is an exceptional leader who has served as a trusted guide and mentor of multiple education professionals over the course of many years, said AdvancED Midwest Region Vice President Becky Densmore. On behalf of AdvancED, it is my honor to extend our deep appreciation for his leadership, commitment to continuous improvement and dedication to service. It is through his leadership and those whom he leads that we are able to deliver upon our mission to empower the education community as they set out to ensure all learners realize their maximum potential.

Sargent said being selected for this award is an honor.

I truly hope my work with school accreditation, from 1993 to the present, has made a difference in the quality of schools and school systems throughout the United States, he said. Not only do I assist educational institutions across the nation, but I also convey what I observe and learn in the nations schools to my future teachers at NSU. Serving education, educators and learners is what I love!
