NSUBA features Sevens as August artist

Published: 2018-08-07

(Broken Arrow, Oklahoma) -- Verba Sevens has been chosen as the next artist to be displayed in the Visitors Center Gallery on the Northeastern State University Broken Arrow campus. Sevens art will be displayed through the month of August.

Sevens is a proud member of the Cherokee tribe and demonstrates her pride for her ancestry through her artwork. Her travels provide the inspiration for the beautiful landscapes seen in her work demonstrating the everyday lives of native peoples. On her excursions across the country, Sevens has collected items such as drift wood, gourds, rocks, feathers and animal bones to use as her canvas.

Her art can be found at the Hard Rock Casino in Tulsa and many other Cherokee facilities.

About Sevens

Sevens grew up in Grove, Oklahoma and received her degree as a registered nurse in Texas. She now calls Tulsa home.

The Native American way of life has been inspiring her since birth, as her father, Deward, was a full-blood Cherokee.

Sevens has three sons and many grandchildren, with whom she has shared her love of Native American art. Those who know her know she is full of compassion for humans and animals alike.
