NSUBA to host photography exhibit during July

Published: 2019-07-02

(Broken Arrow, Oklahoma) - During the month of July, Northeastern State University Broken Arrow will host a photography exhibit by Sheryl McLain, of Edmond, in the Administrative Services Building Visitors Center Gallery. A reception is set for July 18 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Visitors Center Lobby.

McLains passion for photography began when she purchased her first 35 mm camera. At that time, she was pursuing a journalism degree at the University of Central Oklahoma where she processed her own photographs in the university dark room, took photography courses and enjoyed photo assignments.

While working to support her family, McLain spent 25 years in the health care administration and corporate communications arena. In 2010, she left her career to have more time with her family, and rediscovered her passion for photography.

Technology has changed since her days in the university, but her love for capturing meaningful moments has not changed. Capturing moments on the day a child is born, the curiosity of a toddler, the love between a newly engaged couple, or photographing sunrises and sunsets over the Grand Canyon, the hills of Tuscany and Grand Lakeall bring McLain great joy.

There is beauty all around us and in every individual, said McLain. Capturing this beauty in the landscapes and individuals I photograph is truly rewarding.

McLains exhibit will feature images from her travels to Italy, Greece, Iceland, the International Balloon Fiesta and locations throughout the United States, including Santa Fe, Taos, Oregon, Oklahoma, Texas and more.
