Northeastern State University to host Fall 2025 Biology and Chemistry Seminar Series

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — The Gregg Wadley College of Science & Health Professions at Northeastern State University will bring together leading biology and chemistry experts from across Oklahoma this fall for its annual Biology and Chemistry Seminar Series.

The series kicked off Aug. 29 with Dr. Yitong Dong of the University of Oklahoma presenting “The Artificial Atoms—Colloidal Quantum Dots.”

On Sept. 12, NSU undergraduate and graduate students will showcase their own research in a special student-focused session.

Featured guest speakers include Dr. Crystal Johnson of Oklahoma State University for Health Sciences on Sept. 26 with “Low Oxygen, High Impact: How Anaerobic Architects Shape Gut Health,” and Dr. Daniel Ostmo of Saint Francis Warren Clinic on Oct. 10 with “Persistence, Perspective, and the Power of the Non-Traditional Path.”

All seminars will take place at 10 a.m. in the auditorium (Room 141, BAAS 141) on the NSU-Broken Arrow campus. Sessions are free and open to students, faculty, staff and community members.

“Bringing top scholars to our campus while also highlighting the incredible research of our own students reflects NSU’s commitment to discovery, collaboration and academic excellence,” NSU President Rodney Hanley said. “These seminars provide valuable opportunities for our students to learn, connect and see themselves as part of the larger scientific community.”
