NSU to host RiverHawks Scholar Program Lunch and Learn on inclusive postsecondary education

NSU to host RiverHawks Scholar Program Lunch and Learn on inclusive postsecondary education – Oct. 31

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Northeastern State University invites students, faculty, staff and community members to attend the next RiverHawks Scholar Program Lunch and Learn on Oct. 31, 2025, from noon to 2 p.m. in the University Center on the Tahlequah campus.

This interactive event will focus on inclusive postsecondary education, offering attendees the opportunity to learn how NSU’s RiverHawks Scholar Program expands access to higher education for individuals with mild to mild-moderate intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Participants will enjoy lunch, connect with others, and engage in meaningful conversation about inclusion and opportunity in higher education.

“Every student deserves the chance to grow, learn and thrive in a college environment that welcomes them for who they are,” Justin Chase, director of the RiverHawks Scholar Program, said. “At NSU we’re building a community where all learners can experience belonging, develop independence, and achieve their goals.”

NSU President Rodney Hanley said inclusive programs like RSP reflect NSU’s mission and values.

“At Northeastern State University, we believe access to education transforms lives and strengthens communities,” Hanley said. “The RiverHawks Scholar Program embodies our commitment to opening doors of opportunity and ensuring every student feels that they belong here.”

Costumes are welcome but not required. This is a free event, but advance registration is encouraged as seating is limited to the first 20 participants. Optional lunch is available for purchase for $10.
