Northeastern State University encourages students to complete FAFSA for spring, fall

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Northeastern State University is reminding current and prospective students that the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2026–2027 academic year opens Oct. 1, 2026. Students are encouraged to complete their FAFSA early, ahead of the June 30, 2027 priority deadline, to maximize their eligibility for grants, scholarships, loans and work-study opportunities.

At NSU, financial accessibility is a cornerstone of the student experience—more than 90% of first-time, full-time undergraduates receive some form of financial assistance. By completing the FAFSA, students ensure they are considered for every available aid option, from federal and state grants to campus-based opportunities.

NSU’s Student Financial Services team is ready to help students and families navigate the FAFSA process. Specialists and counselors are available in person and through scheduled Zoom meetings to answer questions and provide one-on-one guidance.

“At NSU, we believe financial challenges should never stand in the way of a student’s potential,” NSU President Rodney Hanley said. “Completing the FAFSA opens the door to critical resources that can make a college education more affordable and attainable. Our advisors are here to walk students through the process, so they can focus on what matters most—achieving their academic and career goals.”

Students can complete the FAFSA at studentaid.gov. Applicants should include NSU’s Federal School Code, 003161, to ensure their information is sent to the university.

The NSU Spring semester will begin Jan. 12, 2026. To learn more about NSU or to apply, visit Go2NSU.com.
