NSU to host 58th Annual Green Country Jazz Festival featuring Jocelyn Gould

Northeastern State University to host 58th Annual Green Country Jazz Festival featuring Jocelyn Gould

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – One of the longest-running jazz festivals in the nation, the Green Country Jazz Festival returns to Northeastern State University on March 2-3, 2025.

The festival kicks off Sunday, March 2, at 7 p.m. with the Judges’ Jam at the NSU Jazz Lab in downtown Tahlequah. JUNO Award-winning jazz guitarist and world-renowned musician Jocelyn Gould will perform alongside festival judges from across Oklahoma.

On Monday, March 3, the festival continues at the NSU Center for the Performing Arts, with high school jazz band performances beginning in the morning. These performances, free and open to the public, allow student musicians to compete for awards such as Best Ensemble and Outstanding Soloist.

The festival concludes that evening with a final concert featuring Gould and the NSU Jazz Ensemble.

Gould earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Manitoba and a master’s in jazz studies from Michigan State University in 2018. She has since performed worldwide with top-tier artists, released an award-winning debut album, and, last fall, launched her fourth album, Portrait of Right Now. Known for her virtuosic guitar playing and dynamic compositions, she continues to make a significant impact on the jazz scene.

“The Green Country Jazz Festival is a critical event in bringing world-class jazz to Tahlequah,” said Dr. Jordan VanHemert, NSU director of jazz studies. “In addition to being an event for the community, our NSU students get to interact with a world-renowned guest artist each year in a masterclass setting and perform alongside them in concert.”

Tickets for the 58th Annual Green Country Jazz Festival are:

  • $6 for students and seniors
  • $5 per person for groups of 12 or more
  • $12 for adults

All tickets are general admission.

Founded in 1967, the Green Country Jazz Festival has brought many world-renowned artists to Tahlequah. NSU’s Department of Music invites students and community members to attend this year’s performances.
