Morrison to deliver commencement address at BA

(BROKEN ARROW, OK)--Cindy Morrison, former KTUL news anchor and now accomplished author and motivational speaker, will deliver the commencement address for Northeastern State University-Broken Arrow graduates on May 17 at 7 p.m. at the Union Multipurpose Activity Center.

Morrison's 20 years in television broadcasting provide the foundation for her message and purpose in a new career as an author and speaker. She also informs and educates on branding and social media opportunities.

Before becoming an entrepreneur, Morrison worked for two decades as a news anchor and investigative reporter in the Tulsa and Oklahoma City television markets. She is winner of an Emmy, Peabody, and Gracie Allen Award for work which includes coverage of the 1995 bombing of the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City and the 1993 Branch Davidian standoff in Waco, Texas. Oklahoma Magazine has called her a Trend Setter. Morrison is also national spokesperson for the Tulsa based company Clear-tone.

Morrison is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, where she was a member of the Presidents Leadership Class, Kappa Alpha Theta and a baseball Bat Girl. Since graduating with a mass communication degree, she has studied twice at the Poynter Institute for Media Studies. Morrison continues her membership with Investigative Reporters and Editors, the Society of Professional Journalists and American Women in Radio and Television. She is also a member of the National Speakers Association.

NSU will also hold commencement ceremonies in Tahlequah on Gable Field at Doc Wadley Stadium on Saturday, May 15 at 10 a.m. Rennard Strickland, a 1962 graduate of Northeastern State University and recognized nationally as an expert in American Indian law, will deliver the commencement address and be awarded an honorary doctorate from Northeastern State.
