(Broken Arrow, OK)--The world comes to Oklahoma when Northeastern State University-Broken Arrow welcomes the International Learning Styles Network 34th Annual Institute/Conference from July 18-22.
The conference puts an international focus on the NSU-Broken Arrow campus as educators from around the world will attend. It is the first international conference hosted by NSUBA. Deadline for registration is July 1. Register at: www.nsuce-events.org.
Incorporating learning styles into any classroom leads to higher student achievement hundreds of research studies support this statement, said Dr. Christee Jenlink, dean of NSUBA. Because NSU graduates more teachers than any other institution in the state and region, it is most appropriate that we host a conference centered on the research-based best practice of learning styles."
Hosting the ILSN conference at NSUBA gives northeast Oklahoma a rare opportunity to learn of current, research-based information on learning styles and appropriate instructional practices based upon that research.
The conference will complement NSU's Oklahoma Institute for Learning Styles, which
has been a visible, influential source of information and assistance to public school
and college instructors in how to enhance learning through the accommodation of student
learning styles, said Dr. Martin Tadlock,
provost and vice president for academic affairs at NSU.
The international network has 25 members from 14 countries who are proficient in learning styles and know how to apply them for success in education and business.
We already know Sweden, Denmark and Jamaica are coming," said Dr. Sue Ellen Read, director of OIL.
Highlighting success stories from around the world, participants will share knowledge about how use of learning styles has improved businesses, school districts and personal lives.
Teachers, counselors, parents and businesses are now using this successfully particularly businesses because productivity goes up, said Read.
