NSU, City of Broken Arrow receive OSRHE Regents Business Partnership Excellence Award

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education have recognized a partnership between Northeastern State University and the City of Broken Arrow to educate the workforce and support the local economy.

The Regents Business Partnership Excellence Award is designed to highlight successful partnerships between higher education institutions and businesses and to further cultivate the higher learning environment through State Regents’ Economic Development Grants.

“The partnership between NSU and the City of Broken Arrow is a powerful one,” NSU President Rodney Hanley said. “NSU is thankful for the continuous support and cooperation from the City of Broken Arrow.”

The City of Broken Arrow has a rich history of supporting NSU and its endeavors. Since the NSU-Broken Arrow campus was established more than 20 years ago, the university and the city have collaborated to train the workforce and attract fresh businesses, bolstering the local economy.

Broken Arrow is deeply committed to this alliance, evident in their generous $26 million contribution to expand the campus and enhance NSU's renowned degree programs.

More recently, the city and NSU joined forces on a 12,500-seat amphitheater, a substantial $71.5 million endeavor set to be constructed near the campus. This initiative will not only generate a revenue stream for NSU, but also offer students valuable internships and opportunities to engage with leading national production companies.

“I am excited to see the hard work of this endeavor come to fruition,” Hanley said. “Together we are working to create more opportunities, both educational and economic, for the local community.”

NSU and the City of Broken Arrow is one of 27 partnerships to be recognized with Regents Business Partnership Excellence Awards this year. Honorees were recognized at a ceremony on March 7.
