Career Services teaming to help alumni hunt jobs

Published: 2011-02-11

(Tahlequah, OK)--Members of the Northeastern State University Alumni Association who desire assistance with job searches now have unprecedented access to resources offered by the university's Office of Career Services.

By partnering with Career Services, the Alumni Association is offering enhanced benefits such as e-mail notification of job postings, information on job fairs and the ability to upload resumes and other information for access by employers.

"As we are assessing our portfolio of benefits for Alumni Association members, we want to include elements of great value," said Daniel Johnson, director of alumni services. "This service has the ability to help an alumnus in everyday life. The Alumni Association's relationship with Career Services is so important because in these economic times, people are assessing where they are career-wise, looking at changing careers or just in need of a job."

Gayle Anderson, career services coordinator, said the benefits offered a tremendous opportunity for Alumni Association members and that the Office of Career Services staff was enthusiastic about providing them.

"Alumni Association members registered with Career Services will be notified of job postings," she said. "They can simply log in to their account for more information about job opportunities. They can also elect to be notified of e-mails we've received from employers who have an immediate need."

Those with membership are also alerted to opportunities to shop their skills to employers.

"Members are able to view upcoming job fairs and find out which employers are participating," Anderson said. "They can also upload resumes, cover letters and transcripts and receive e-mails directly from interested employers."

The Alumni Association promotes the interests and welfare of NSU through lifelong commitment and support by its alumni and friends. The association promotes positive interactions between alumni and the institution through activities, events, services and communication. All graduates, former students and others interested in NSU are eligible for membership in the Alumni Association.

Registration is available online for the Alumni Association and areer Services.

The Office of Career Services is part of the NSU Enrollment Management Team. Career Services seeks, through partnerships with employers, graduate schools, faculty and alumni, to empower students and alumni to be self-sufficient in utilizing and marketing their education, skills and experiences to achieve life-long career success.
