(Broken Arrow, Okla.)-- Northeastern State Universitys outstanding academic programs have once again received recognition, as the universitys Continuing Education department won an Exceptional Program Award (non-credit) for its Crime Scene Investigator Certificate.

Awarded by the Association for Continuing Higher Education Great Plains Region, the department of Continuing Education will receive the award onMarch 4, 2016, while also making a short presentation about what the winning course offers.

The CSI certificate was developed in partnership with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and was designed for current law enforcement officers who would like to further develop their understanding, skills and expertise as it relates to crime scene investigations.

Detective Mike Hammons, a past student of the CSI certificate and employee at the Wagoner Police Department, strongly endorsed the program.

"I highly recommend this certificate program to anyone wanting to go into the investigation field of law enforcement, or are new to the field. The instructors were very knowledgeable on the subject and it was a great class."

It is instructed by Crime Scene Agents from the OSBI and the Broken Arrow Police Department, with a combination of online and face-to-face learning. Most time will be spent online for curriculum instruction, and a few days are dedicated to practical exercises and proficiency testing on the NSU Broken Arrow campus.

The class is accredited by the Council of Law Enforcement Education and Training for 80 hours of mandatory continuing education credit, and also earns students CLEET accreditation.
