(Tahlequah, OK)--Dr. Jody Buckholtz, assistant professor in the Natural Sciences department at Northeastern State University, will participate in the U.S. Department of Energy's Faculty and Student Teams program June 7 Aug. 13 at the Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, N.Y.

NSU students Anthony Wellman and Eric Buston will also participate. They are juniors from Tahlequah majoring in chemistry.

NSU's team will investigate electron transport through conjugated polymer systems. Research in this area could lead to more efficient solar panels and a greater ability to retain and scale collected solar energy.

FaST allows university faculty and students to associate with scientific and professional Brookhaven staff in an educational training program. It works to give research experience in areas of chemistry, physics, engineering, biology, nuclear medicine, applied mathematics, high- and low-energy particle accelerators and science writing.

The FaST program is a cooperative effort between the Department of Energy Office of Science and the National Science Foundation.
