NSU's Green and White Weekend is April 8-9

(Tahlequah, OK)--Featuring ceremonies, gatherings and athletics, Green and White Weekend is April 8-9 at Northeastern State University.

The weekend starts with the 43rd annual Honors Assembly on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the University Center Sen. Herb Rozell Ballroom. The ceremony is preceded by a screening of Gnomeo and Juliet for Family Movie Night, hosted by the Northeastern Activities Board, at 6:30 in the auditorium of the W. Roger Webb Educational Technology Center.

More than 200 NSU students will be awarded certificates to recognize Academic Achievement, Student Activity, Honor Society and Whos Who.

Academic Achievement awards will be presented to the outstanding student in each academic discipline. Student Activity awards will be given to the outstanding student in each campus approved organization or activity. Honor Society awards go to students with high grade point averages and participation in at least two campus organizations or activities, along with Who's Who Awards to students listed in Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities.

Saturday begins with the Dean's Student Officer Recognition Breakfast at 8:30 a.m., hosted by Laura Boren, dean of student affairs. Held in the University Center Redbud Room, the breakfast acknowledges the service contribution of students through recognized student organizations and campus-wide opportunities.

At 10 a.m. in the Webb Center auditorium is the 2011 Ovation Ceremony. Sponsored by First Year Experience, the Alumni Association and the Office of Student Affairs, it recognizes outstanding seniors, freshmen and Hall of Fame recipients.

The highlight of spring football practice is the annual Green-and-White game. The scrimmage is at Doc Wadley Stadium at 3 p.m. It is preceded by the Green and White Tailgate in the north parking lot at 1 p.m.

At 6 p.m. the men's soccer team will scrimmage NSU soccer alumni at Wadley Stadium.
