'NASA and the Manned Space Frontier' lecture scheduled at NSU

Northeastern State University alumna Cassandra Snyder will deliver the lecture, "NASA and the Manned Space Frontier," at the Webb Center Auditorium on Oct. 14 at 1 p.m.

The lecture will be carried via ITV to Building A, Room 115, at Broken Arrow and the Synar Building, Room 141, at Muskogee.

The presentation will highlight NASA's milestones in manned space flight and discuss current operations of the Space Shuttle, the International Space Station and other programs. Snyder will also discuss NASA's future missions, such as Constellation and robotic Mars probes.

A computer science programmer and Mission Control Center flight controller for United Space Alliance in Houston, Snyder has worked for the NASA contractor since graduating from NSU with a bachelor's degree in computer science in 2006.

Snyder's duties include programming Web software tools used by flight controllers in the MCC to support shuttle and station activities. She is also among the flight controllers who plan daily activities for astronauts. She works in the control center on a rotating basis.
