'Cash for College' Program to Air on OETA January 27

Published: 2004-01-26

TAHLEQUAH High school seniors, college students, and their families are encouraged to tune in to the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (the statewide PBS affiliate) on Tuesday, January 27, for the annual "Cash for College" program. During the show, which airs at 8 p.m., financial aid professionals from throughout the state will discuss the financial aid process, highlighting many of the grant, scholarship, and loan opportunities available for Oklahoma students. Questions from viewers will be handled via a toll-free hotline to an in-studio phone bank of 24 practicing, financial aid experts.

Program topics will include, but are not limited to, how to apply for financial aid, various federal grant and aid programs available, state grants and scholarships, college savings plans, and federal student loans.

The live one-hour show is produced by OETA, in partnership with the Oklahoma Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (OASFAA), the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, and the Oklahoma Guaranteed Student Loan Program. This will be the third year for this highly successful program.

The television program previews the upcoming College Goal Sunday event to be held statewide February 8 at more than 30 colleges and universities. Students and their families can join Northeastern State University financial aid counselors and staff (in Tahlequah and Broken Arrow) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. for one-on-one advice about financial aid and planning for college. For more information on Northeastern's College Goal Sunday event, call Teri Cochran at 918-456-5511, ext. 3456.
