Published: 2006-09-19

TAHLEQUAH - Northeastern State University is seeking entries for the 2006 Homecoming Parade, slated for Saturday, Oct. 14, at 10:30 a.m. in downtown Tahlequah.

"Every year, Northeastern students, alumni, faculty, and staff, in conjunction with the Tahlequah community come together for the annual Homecoming Parade," said NSU President Dr. Larry Williams. "Individuals and organizations work rigorously on floats to create an unforgettable parade, and we encourage everyone to take part in this year's festivities."

Parade entries should follow this year's theme "Who Says You Can't Go Home."

To reserve a space in the Homecoming parade, contact Challis McDonald at mcdonach@nsuok.edu or the NSU Office of Student Affairs at 918-456-5511, ext 2120. Parade entries must be received by Monday, Oct. 9, at 6 p.m.

To sign up for the parade, participants must provide their name, or the name of the group or organization they represent, along with a contact phone number and email address. Participants must also provide a description of their display with the approximate space needed, including vehicle, trailer, and individuals walking with the display.

Floats my not exceed a height of 13 feet or width of 10 feet. Throwing candy or any other objects from the float is prohibited, but walkers may distribute candy along the parade route.

Other Homecoming events include a Thursday night Street Party and Pep Rally, 9th Annual Homecoming Golf Event, and Champagne Bingo, alumni reunions, and the inaugural Come Home To The Dome post-game celebration at the Indoor Practice Facility.
