NSU Students Participate in MAA Sectional

(Tahlequah, Okla.) Northeastern State University student Wen Shao, of Tahlequah, placed third in the Integration Bee, part of the 73rd annual Oklahoma/Arkansas sectional meeting of the Mathematical Association of America. The meeting was held March 31-April 2 at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond.
Other students competing for NSU were Toni Slagle of Katy, Texas; Leah Imboden of Tulsa; Ryan Berkley of Owasso and Rho Middleton of Welling.
Shao tied for third with Tim Schlittenhardt of UCO. Song Thai Dang of the University of Oklahoma won the competition; Tyler Eckert of Oklahoma State University and Timothy Bell of the University of Tulsa tied for second place.
The Oklahoma/Arkansas section hosted the Integration Bee and the Math Jeopardy Student Competitions for the third consecutive year. Competing in Math Jeopardy were 16 teams of students, 70 of whom competed in the individual Integration Bee.
Close to 200 mathematicians from the bi-state area attended, representing more than 20 universities and making about 75 mathematical presentations.
