NSU's Kappa Mu Epsilon chapter inducts 12

(Tahlequah, OK)--The Oklahoma Alpha Chapter of Kappa Mu Epsilon at Northeastern State University inducted 12 students into the honor society at a special ceremony held Feb. 23 on the main campus.

The new initiates of Kappa Mu Epsilon include Roderick Bledsoe, Minco; Kalin Bradshaw, Oologah; Blane Burge, Muskogee; Molly Erwin, Durant; Tatsuya Eto, Machidashi, Tokyo; Jonathan Garcia, Van Buren, Ark.; Leah Imboden, Tulsa; Abraham Middleton, Welling; Taylor Pride, Tahlequah; Joshua Qualls, Muskogee; Tandy Roberts, Stilwell, and Wen Shao, Tahlequah.

Representing the NSU faculty at the initiation were Dr. Joan E. Bell, Dr. Darryl Linde, Dr. John Diamantopoulos, Max Ellis, Dan Sisk and Randy Snider. Also present was emeritus professor Larry Bell.

Kappa Mu Epsilon is a national mathematics honor society, founded in 1931 at NSU. It recognizes outstanding achievement in the study of mathematics at the undergraduate level. The organization has 129 chapters and approximately 61,000 members in 34 states. Since 1931, 1,739 students and faculty members have been initiated into NSUs Oklahoma Alpha chapter of KME.

Dr. Joan E. Bell, professor of mathematics at NSU serves at the faculty sponsor for Kappa Mu Epsilon. Current officers of the chapter for 2010-2011 are president Toni Slagle of Katy, Texas; vice president Seth Vansell of Norman; secretary Jacob Curley of Broken Arrow and treasurer Jonathan Moyer of Tahlequah.
