NSU offers second century summer learning camps

Published: 2011-05-10

Tahlequah, Okla. The Northeastern State University Department of Communication, Art and Theatre will offer nine weeklong camps this summer for area preschool-high school students.

We are so pleased to have the opportunity to offer children in Tahlequah and surrounding areas the chance to do something new this summer, said Dr. Dana Eversole, professor of mass communication and camp adviser. Its so nice to provide a safe, fun environment to stimulate their minds during their vacation.

The nine camps are broken into different areas of interest, including camps for leadership, photography, cooking, bugs, art, reading, performing arts and two for science.

Camp teachers are members of the NSU community and outside professionals who are excited to offer this community outreach project to area youth.

We are looking forward to having so many young faces on campus this summer, Eversole said. Each one of the camps will be unique and engaging.

Camps are available to students ages 4 through high school. Price is $125 per camper, which includes lunch and a snack. The camps each run for five days from 8:30 a.m. 5 p.m., except for CSI Science which runs four days after the Independence Day holiday. Drop off and pick up will be at the NSU University Center. On Fridays, camp participants will take a field trip.

Buggin Out is intended for children ages 4-7, the leadership camp for high school students. Other camps are for ages 8 and up.
