A new $100,000 gift will be used to support growing student leadership opportunities at Northeastern State University. David Ray, President of the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma, presented the endowment during an August 15 dinner welcoming student university leaders.

The Masonic Leadership Endowment Fund will fund the provision of resources to leadership organizations and programs on campus, such as President's Leadership Class, Honors and RiverHawks Impacting Student Enrollment.

John Gyllin, director of development and executive director of the NSU Foundation, said NSU is the beneficiary of a larger gift made to all six institutions in the Regional Universities of Oklahoma system, which also includes the University of Central Oklahoma, East Central University, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Southeastern Oklahoma State and Northwestern Oklahoma State.

"The Masonic Fraternity supports public education," said John Logan, executive director or the Masonic Charity Foundation. "They have used their gifts to the schools to create different programs based on needs at each of the institutions."

After discussions with Logan and NSU President Don Betz, Gyllin said it was decided to endow campus leadership programs.

"We want to nurture the leadership opportunities we provide our students," said Gyllin. "Thanks to the Masonic Fraternity of Oklahoma, this endowment will be there in perpetuity to provide funds to assist our leadership programs through travel, resources and program options.
