34 High School students chosen for NSU’s PLC and RISE programs

Published: 2016-04-12

(Tahlequah, Okla.)-- Northeastern State University has selected the new class of Presidents Leadership Class (PLC) and RiverHawks Initiating Service and Engagement Class (RISE).

PLC and RISE are leadership and scholarship programs. PLC is designed to cultivate outstanding potential in proven student leaders. RISE is a service and community engagement program designed to maximize the service potential of the new incoming students, with the main goals of creating, maintaining, and growing service and civic engagement opportunities in the NSU community.

These scholarships are the most selective that NSU offers. Hundreds of high school seniors applied, and 17 were chosen for each group. After being selected to participate in an interview process, students were chosen and called by NSU President Dr. Steve Turner to congratulate them individually.

NSU continues to develop students through these programs, and those selected will represent their hometowns in the respective programs.
