NSU Department of Music hosts events on April 21, 24

(Tahlequah, Okla.)-- The Northeastern State University Department of Music is set to host two spring concerts at the NSU Center for the Performing Arts. The NSU Wind Ensemble and Tahlequah High School Wind Ensemble will perform on April 21 at 7 p.m. and the NSU Communiversity Band will perform on April 24 at 7 p.m.

The NSU Wind Ensemble with Norman Wika, conductor, and the Tahlequah High School Wind Ensemble with Josh Allen, conductor, will join forces for their spring concert. Each ensemble will perform a portion of the concert and then play together for a combined finale. The NSU Wind Ensemble will feature a performance of the Ibert Flute Concerto by Sarah Thompson, winner of the 2016 NSU Concerto Competition.

The Communiversity Band is made up of NSU students and members of the Tahlequah community. The group has been meetingon Tuesdaynights since January and members are excited to share their work with the community. The program will feature music by Francis McBeth, William Latham, Aaron Copland, Rossano Galante and Jack Stamp.

Tickets for each performance are $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors. Tickets for each show will go on sale at6:30 p.m. in the CPA box office on the day of each performance.
