TAHLEQUAH - No matter where you are, there's only one place you'll want to go - Northeastern State University's Homecoming 2006. "Who Says You Can't Go Home" is more than just a slogan, as friends, family, students, and alumni gather for an action-packed weekend in Tahlequah Oct. 12-14.

Each year, the University honors distinguished alumni who have made an impact in their field and communities. This year's honorees certainly exemplify those qualities. Being honored this year are Phillip Driskill, Distinguished Alumnus, Wagoner; Robert Roady, Distinguished Alumnus, Houston, Texas; Todd Allen Rolland, Distinguished Young Alumnus, Broken Arrow; and Drs. Tim & Isabel Baker, President's Award for Community Service, Tahlequah.

Homecoming activities kick off Thursday, Oct. 12, with the annual Street Party in downtown Tahlequah from 6-9 p.m. A traditional chili cook-off, pep rally, and plenty of entertainment will keep people in the Green-and-White spirit.

The Ninth Annual Homecoming Golf Event at 10 a.m. and Champagne Bingo at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, hosted by Cherry Springs Country Club, promise an excellent chance to catch up with friends while playing some great games. To sign up, please call 918-458-2143.

Soccer fans can also cheer on the NSU men's soccer team as they take on Eastern New Mexico University at 4 p.m. at the NSU Soccer Fields.

Homecoming day starts off with the Redmen Athletics Breakfast at 8 a.m. in the Rozell Ballroom in the University Center. Or stop by the University Center Cafeteria for the Redmen Brunch at 8:30 a.m. before heading out to find a good seat for the Homecoming Parade, starting at 10:30 a.m.

Following the parade, join the NSU Alumni Association for a Tailgating Party in the parking lot of Doc Wadley Stadium starting at 11 a.m. before cheering for NSU as the team takes on Texas A&M-Commerce.

Don't miss the annual crowning of this year's Homecoming King and Queen during halftime.

The inaugural post game Come Home To The Dome event, held at the Indoor Practice Facility, promises a good time for all alumni to come together, catch up with old friends and celebrate a good game.

The new NSU Science Center and Seminary Hall will be open for tours all day Saturday.

NSU's Homecoming celebration is made possible through the support of Love Bottling, Tahlequah City Hospital, Yates Auto Mall, BancFirst, and Consolidated Printing Solutions.
