NSU to host 57th Annual Green Country Jazz Festival

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Grammy award-winning drummer, educator and published author, Ulysses Owens Jr., will headline the 57th Annual Green Country Jazz Festival at Northeastern State University March 3-4. 

The festival will begin with the annual Judges Jam performance on March 3 at 8 p.m. at the NSU Jazz Lab in downtown Tahlequah. Participants will include Owens, event judges and the NSU Jazz Ensemble.

On March 4, the Green Country Jazz Festival will take place at the NSU Center for the Performing Arts at 7 p.m. High school bands from across Oklahoma will perform. The festival will culminate in a closing performance featuring Owens. 

Tickets are $6 for students and seniors, $12 for adults and $5 per person for groups of 12 or more. All tickets are general admission.

The Green Country Jazz Festival began in 1967 and has since brought many world-renowned artists to the Tahlequah area. It is one of the country’s longest-running jazz festivals. NSU’s Department of Music invites students and members of the community to attend.
