Northeastern State University to formally install Dr. Rodney Hanley as institution’s 20th president – March 1

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Northeastern State University will formally install Dr. Rodney Hanley as the institution’s 20th president in an investiture ceremony on March 1.

“It’s an honor to officially join the ranks of presidents who have served our historic university,” Hanley said. “I look forward to seeing NSU through the next era of success.”

Hanley began serving as NSU’s president on Aug. 1, 2023, after being named by the Regional University System of Oklahoma (RUSO) Regents following a national search. He brings decades of higher education experience as well as a background in strategic planning, student, faculty, community and tribal relations, financial and enrollment management and fundraising to his position at NSU.

Hanley’s investiture ceremony will take place on Friday, March 1 at 1:30 p.m. in the Center for the Performing Arts on the NSU Tahlequah campus.

The program will begin with a welcome from Dr. Carla Swearingen, NSU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, followed by remarks from Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education Chancellor Allison D. Garrett, Cherokee Nation Deputy Principal Chief Bryan Warner, RUSO Chairman Jane McDermott and more.

Following guest remarks and the presidential charge, Hanley will deliver his presidential address.

After the ceremony attendees are invited to a reception from 3-4:30 p.m. in the University Center Ballroom across the street. Light refreshments will be served.

Both the investiture ceremony and reception are open to the public.
