(Broken Arrow)--A pair of workshops to help familiarize people with online data and information on aging is May 6 in the library at Northeastern State University-Broken Arrow.
The "Numbers Games" workshops begin at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. They are "hands-on" workshops where attendees get to access the resources on a library computer.
The first, "Healthy Aging at Your Library," runs until 2:30 p.m. Karen Vargas, consumer health coordinator of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, South Central Region, will lead attendees through online health Web sites and resources for librarians and anyone who serves the aging population.
"Online Information for Older Oklahomans" runs until 5 p.m. and is presented by Robbie Sittel of the Tulsa City County Public Library and Steve Beleu of the Oklahoma Department of Libraries. They will discuss online resources offering statistical data about older Americans.
"I think the most important thing about these workshops is that as part of the Federal Depository Library Program the NSU libraries are committed to providing free access to and assistance with government information for NSU and all citizens in the surrounding communities," said Susan Woitte, instructor of library services for the NSU libraries.
The workshops are free and registration can be for either or both. For more information or to register contact Susan Woitte at woitte@nsuok.edu or 918-444-3246.
