NSU plans Pack the House Pink for breast cancer awareness
Published: 2010-10-20
The Student Foundation at Northeastern State University and the Young Survivors Coalition of Tulsa have teamed up to host Pack the House Pink on Saturday, October 23 at Doc Wadley Stadium. Events for the day include tailgating, a silent auction and the chance to win a new car during halftime of the football game.
Pack the House Pink T-shirts are for sale for $10 at the RiverHawk Shoppe on both the Tahlequah and Broken Arrow campuses. Supporters are asked to wear the shirts to the game on Oct. 23 to spread awareness of breast cancer.
Tailgating starts at 11 a.m. in the Gable Field parking lot, located adjacent to the stadium. Cooks will be provided with pink aprons to wear.
During the tailgate, a silent auction will be set up, with bidding going on through halftime. Items include a Scentsy candle, a signed football and Guess sunglasses from the NSU Oklahoma College of Optometry.
The football game begins at 2 p.m. against the University of Central Oklahoma Broncos, and at halftime, a Pass, Punt & Kick Cancer for a Car contest will be held for the chance to win a Ford vehicle.
YSC Tulsa is one of nearly 30 YSC affiliates serving young women across the United States. YSC works to extend support to any young woman diagnosed with breast cancer and provide them the necessary resources to help them navigate through their experience, feel empowered and reduce the sense of isolation young women often feel. Through action, advocacy and awareness, YSC seeks to educate and influence the medical, research, and legislative communities to address breast cancer in young women and to ensure that no young woman faces breast cancer alone.
