(Tahlequah, OK)--Patti Buhl was appointed on April 1 to the new position of director of public safety at Northeastern State University, being offered the position after serving as the interim campus police chief.

I was thrilled to be offered this opportunity, Buhl said. Since the position was a new one for NSU, I feel very fortunate and excited to be part of the new growth that NSU is experiencing.

As director of public safety, Buhl's responsibilities include supervising the campus police department and Safety Services, Risk Management and the Campus Community Emergency Response Team.

Buhl said that a new approach to public safety has been accomplished successfully at other colleges and she believes it is also a positive step for NSU.

I look forward to continuing not only my previous duties by my new opportunities as well, Buhl said. Im very excited by the path NSU has taken under (NSU) president Don Betzs tutelage and I feel very fortunate to be part of it.
