Native American cultural resilience focus of Sequoyah Seminar at NSU

(TAHLEQUAH, OK)--Northeastern State University presents its Sequoyah Seminar Series, titled "A Perspective on Native American Life, Literature & Resilience," with a seminar March 5-6 on cultural resilience and leadership.

The seminar is in the NET Building, Room 614, and over ITV to Building G, Room 114 on the Broken Arrow campus. The sessions are 2-9:15 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Participants can apply credit to Social Work 4751.

The series continues at the same places and times March 26-27 on American Indian literature. Those attending the literature seminar may apply credit to English 4901, Cherokee 4411 or English 5651.

Presenters for the series are NSU chair of English Dr. Terri Baker, Dr. Les Hannah, Dr. Vince Kirk, NSU Sequoyah Fellow Wilma Mankiller and Dr. Virginia Whitekiller.

While the seminar series is offered as credit for degree-seeking students and continuing education certification for professionals, anyone interested is invited to register. All participants should register through NSU Continuing Education to ensure space. To receive course credit, participants must be admitted to NSU. Students can also receive continuing education certificate credit. Registration fee is $30 for general attendees and $15 for NSU faculty and staff.
