NSU Sequoyah Institute announces 2024-25 show lineup

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Northeastern State University’s Sequoyah Institute has announced the 2024-25 season lineup for its popular performing arts series. This season marks the 38th year of the Sequoyah Institute’s performing arts series.

The series kicks off on Oct. 23-26, with an NSU Drama performance of “Vanya & Sonia & Masha & Spike” at the NSU Playhouse. Premiering during NSU’s homecoming week, this show also serves as a fundraiser for the NSU drama department students.

Written by Christopher Durang, this dark comedy follows two middle-aged siblings, Vanya and Sonia, who share a home where they complain about the circumstances of their life. Out of nowhere, their movie-star sister, Masha, appears with her new boy toy, Spike. Old resentments flare, eventually leading to threats to sell the house.

The next performance, will take place on Nov. 16, featuring the Grammy-winning Gatlin Brothers and their critically acclaimed Country & Christmas show. The trio of brothers, Larry, Steve and Rudy will perform some of their greatest hits and holiday favorites. Although this show is already sold out, those interested are encouraged to join the waitlist.

Moving into the New Year, the performing arts series will return to the NSU Playhouse on Jan. 23 and 24 with the crowd-pleasing favorite, Face Vocal Band featuring Tahlequah native Anderson Daniel, returning to perform for a third year. This is the acapella band’s third year to perform at the NSU Playhouse. FACE previously starred on NBC’s “The Sing Off,” and has garnered international accolades over the last two decades as an all-vocal rock band.

Concluding the 2024-25 performing arts series on March 5, is the TAKE3 Trio. A genre-defying group, TAKE3 brings the refinement of a rigorous classical music background and infuses it with rock-star charisma. TAKE3’s interactive lighting shows, comedic stories of their journey from scales in conservatory practice rooms to pop music in packed stadiums, come together in unforgettable experiences that have fired up concert goers all over the nation.
