NSU Warns of Sports Marketing Scam
Published: 2010-02-18
TAHLEQUAH Northeastern State University is alerting local businesses about a scam involving a Texas company that is using the institutions name to solicit money for T-shirt sponsorships.
Jam Sports Marketing is not affiliated with NSU, is not an officially licensed vendor with the university, and does not have permission to solicit money on behalf of any product bearing the universitys name or logo.
Company representatives have contacted at least one local business by email and solicited $350 for advertising on a sports T-shirt that the representative claimed would be distributed to students on campus.
Anyone approached by a company claiming to represent NSU and soliciting money using our name should contact the University Relations office, said Dana Boren-Boer, university marketing coordinator. "Do not give them money until you are certain the company has authority to represent the university."
Call the NSU Office of University Relations at 918-444-2010.
