TAHLEQUAH On May 15, 2003, State Farm Insurance Companies presented a $25,000 gift to Northeastern State University President Larry Williams. The gift will be used to furnish a second state-of-the-art multi-media equipped, distance learning classroom on the Broken Arrow campus. In December 2001, the State Farm Insurance Companies entered into a high-tech educational partnership with NSU-Broken Arrow when they gave the University $29,000 to furnish the campus' first high-tech classroom located on the second floor of the technology building, Building B.
The tiered classroom will seat 40 students and will utilize the latest hardware and technology, including media cart with VCR, DVD, PC, electronic overhead projection system, audio system, video switching equipment, PolyCom ITV codex, and other related equipment and software to conduct ITV classes at up to 2 MegaBytes over IP based networks. The new classroom will be located on the first floor of Building C.
We have a strong commitment to education and are excited to support this state university
that offers educational opportunities in Broken Arrow and Northeastern Oklahoma, said
Steve Short, State Farm vice president of Operations. State Farm is thrilled to support
NSU in offering students the very latest in technology.
The NSU-BA campus houses over a dozen multi-media classrooms, most of which are equipped
with the technology that will train students in all areas of business technology including
systems used by companies like State Farm.
Not only does NSU educate more teachers than any other university in the state of Oklahoma, we also educate a large part of the work force for Northeastern Oklahoma, said Williams. With that in mind, NSU pays particular attention to what information and training our students need in order to excel in that work force. Through this wonderful partnership with State Farm, everyone benefits: the students, State Farm, and the University.
