Union High School Jazz Band

NSU Jazz Ensemble to join Union High School Jazz Band for concert

BROKEN ARROW — The Northeastern State University Jazz Ensemble and Union High School Jazz Band will perform a jazz ensemble concert on Nov. 11.

The performance will take place on the NSU Broken Arrow campus in the Broken Arrow auditorium at 7 p.m. The event is free to attend. Donations will be accepted.

The performance is part of a longstanding collaboration between NSU and Union High School. Danny Cole, the Jazz and Marching Band Director at Union High School, is an alumnus of NSU’s music education program.

Director of Jazz Studies at NSU Dr. Clark Gibson said that partnerships with area high schools are critical for supporting arts education in Oklahoma.

“As a partly state-funded institution, I feel one of NSU's roles is to support and collaborate with K-12 education in this region,” Gibson said.
