NSU announces Spring 2021 Virtual Biology & Chemistry Series

“Virology in a Pandemic,” presented by Dr. Vincent Racaniello, Higgins Professor of Microbiology & Immunology kicks off discussions – Feb. 5

(Broken Arrow, Oklahoma) -- The Northeastern State University Broken Arrow campus will begin its Spring 2021 Virtual Biology & Chemistry Seminar Series on Feb. 5.

Presented by the NSU Gregg Wadley College of Science & Health Professions and arranged by Dr. Sapna Das-Bradoo, associate professor of molecular biology, the virtual series includes speakers with topics in five areas of study. 

Feb. 5 - “Virology in a Pandemic” will be presented by Dr. Vincent Racaniello, professor of microbiology and immunology at the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York. Das-Bradoo will serve as the NSU host for this session.

Feb. 26 - “Epidemiology at the Tulsa Health Department” will be a discussion led by Ms. Madison Thomas from the Tulsa Health Department. Dr. Nathan Green, assistant professor of Chemistry, will host this session.

March 26 - “R-rate: Understanding the role of XRN2 in Repair, Recombination, Replication and R-loop formation” will be the topic presented by Dr. Julio Morales from the Department of Cell Biology, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences. Das-Bradoo will serve as the NSU host for this presentation.

April 9 - “What is clinical medicine? A link from the basic sciences to the patient” will be the subject discussed by Dr. Daniel Ostmo from the Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences. Das-Bradoo will serve as the NSU host for the discussion.

April 23 - “Treating cancer with nanoparticles and sound waves” will be the topic shared by Dr. Ashish Ranjan from College of Veterinary Medicine, Oklahoma State University. Dr. Janaki Iyer, assistant professor of Biology, will serve as the NSU host for this presentation.
