Be Mole-cool! NSU-Broken Arrow to host Camp Biomed
BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – Northeastern State University will hold Camp Biomed on the NSU-Broken Arrow campus from June 23-27. The event is open to grades 8-10, and is perfect for teenagers interested in biology.
The STEM Summer Academy begins at 9 a.m. and lasts until 4 p.m. every day. Attendees will be provided free lunch and snacks, and will also have a chance to tour a molecular research lab.
At the camp, students will learn about microbiology, molecular biology and how they overlap. Attendees will also learn and perform innovative molecular biology procedures and microbiology techniques to create bioluminescent bacteria.
These experiments will teach students how to understand the science behind the experiments, how to interpret outcomes and troubleshooting procedures.
Attendees will learn from NSU’s Dr. Janaki Iyer, Associate Professor of Biology, and Dr. Dulanjani Wijayasekara, Assistant Professor of Biology.
The camp is free for applicants. Camp registrations are currently open.
