NSU offer's direct admission for local high school seniors

Northeastern State University to offer direct admission for local high school seniors

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - Northeastern State University has partnered with local high schools to offer direct admission for qualified high school seniors.

The program allows eligible students to forgo the standard application for admission process, allowing direct entry to the university, eliminating the requirement for students to complete the standard admission application, as well as the $25 application fee.

“By offering direct admission, we aim to provide a seamless transition to college, empowering students to embark on their educational journey with confidence and support,” NSU President Rodney Hanley said.

The program is designed to increase college pathways for students by removing and taking the mystery out of the college application process. According to Dr. Jerrid Freeman, Vice President for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management, students and their families might not always know what next steps are available following high school.

"What I am most excited about this program is how it is helping those students who didn’t think college was possible or were unaware of the scholarships they could receive to have new pathways and dreams available to them should they choose to pursue them," Freeman said.

In addition to providing direct admission to NSU, the program allows eligible students to be considered for automatic scholarships.

“Some high school graduates know clearly that they want to attend or don’t want to attend college, but a large group is also unsure or unaware of potential options,” Freeman said.

Tahlequah Public Schools and Broken Arrow Public Schools are currently participating in the direct admissions program with other local high schools on the list to join within the coming year.
