Face Vocal Band opens the 2026 season of Sequoyah Institute Series

Face Vocal Band opens the 2026 season of NSU Sequoyah Institute Series

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Northeastern State University’s Sequoyah Institute Performing Arts Series will open its 2026 season with performances by Face Vocal Band on Jan. 22 and 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the NSU Playhouse.

Face, an internationally acclaimed all-vocal rock band based in Boulder, Colorado, is known for its innovative blend of contemporary music, beat-box rhythms, rich harmonies and high-energy stage presence.

Tahlequah native Anderson Daniel will return home to perform alongside band members Mark Megibow, Forest Kelly, Ryan Driver and Stephen Ross, presenting a lineup of fan-favorite selections that showcase the group’s signature sound.

“We have welcomed this group multiple times, but each visit brings something fresh, new and exciting,” Robyn Pursley, NSU assistant dean for the College of Liberal Arts, said. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to highlight how special Tahlequah is and to see someone who once called this community home now sharing their talent on stages around the world. It’s a powerful reminder of the reach a small town can have.”

NSU President Rodney Hanley said the opening performance reflects the broader mission of the Sequoyah Institute Series.

“The Sequoyah Institute Performing Arts Series connects our campus and community to world-class artists while celebrating creativity, culture and shared experiences,” Hanley said. “Opening the season with Face Vocal Band and welcoming a Tahlequah native back home underscores the transformative power of the arts and the role NSU plays in bringing those moments to life.”

Face has released 10 albums in the United States and internationally, with performances spanning Australia, Austria, England, Iceland, Luxembourg, Scotland, Sweden, Russia and the western Caribbean. The group competed on NBC’s The Sing-Off in 2009 and was named “Quintet of the Year” by the A Cappella Music Awards in 2019.

The band has opened for artists including Jon Bon Jovi, TobyMac, 38 Special, Reel Big Fish and The Real Group, and has performed national anthem and halftime shows for the Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets and Colorado Rockies.

The Sequoyah Institute Performing Arts Series is dedicated to enriching and promoting cultural experiences through performances by national and international artists.
