NSU Hosts 36th Annual Honors Assembly

TAHLEQUAH Northeastern State University will host the 36th Annual Honors Assembly on April 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for Performing Arts. There, more than 260 awards will be presented to deserving students in several categories including the Academic Achievement Award - Undergraduate & Graduate; Honor Society Award; Student Activity Award; and Who's Who Award.

Academic Achievement Awards - Undergraduate and Graduate. The Academic Achievement Award - Undergraduate is given to one selected student in each undergraduate degree granting discipline. Each recipient must have completed two full semesters and have a grade-point average of at least 3.50 in the given academic discipline. The Academic Achievement Award - Graduate is given to one selected student in each graduate degree-granting discipline. Recipients must meet the following criteria: have been enrolled in the Graduate College within the past year; have satisfied all requirements for graduate candidacy; have completed a minimum of 24 semester hours toward the Masters Degree, 16 of which must be 500 level; will receive approval of the Capstone project (if the degree requires such a project); have maintained an overall grade-point average of 3.75 in all graduate work completed.

Honor Society Award. Students are nominated for this award by faculty or administrators. Recipients must meet the following criteria: have completed at least two full semesters at Northeastern; have belonged or participated in at least two college-approved organizations or activities while at Northeastern; have accumulated a grade-point average of 3.50 (if a senior with 90 or more hours, 3.65 (if a junior with more than 60 hours but fewer than 89 hours), 3.75 (if a sophomore with 30 more than 30 hours but fewer than 59 hours); and have demonstrated excellence in academic achievement, citizenship, leadership, group participation, moral and social development.

Student Activity Award. This award recognizes outstanding students involved in campus organizations and/or activities. Selected by their activity sponsor, recipients must have completed two full semesters at Northeastern and maintain a 3.50 grade-point average.

Who's Who Award. Recipients for this award have been selected based on the following criteria: scholarship ability; participation and leadership in academic and extracurricular activities; citizenship and service to Northeastern State University; and potential for future achievement.
