Enhance your leadership skills at Leadership and Change seminars

Published: 2011-02-16

Individuals will have the opportunity to explore different forms of civic engagement through Leadership and Change seminars at Northeastern State University.

The eight one-hour sessions are open to the public and will take place in the W. Roger Webb Educational Technology Center auditorium and the University Center Morgan Room.

Seminars like this are important to NSU and the community because they bring in speakers that the guests might not have a chance to hear otherwise, said Emma Allen, graduate assistant for communications and marketing. The speakers might provide a different point of view than what the guests have heard and they can learn from them.

Paul Loeb kicks off the series on Jan. 27 and will address Social Change. Karen Keith will speak about Media Leadership on Feb. 3. Ken Purdy follows with a seminar on City Government Leadership on Feb. 17, followed by Dr. Cari Keller, Dr. Amy Aldridge Sanford and Dean Laura Boren speaking about Women in Leadership on Feb. 24. Global leadership is the theme on March 3 when Felice Nudelman hosts the seminar. Susan McCalmont will discuss Creativity on March 10 followed by a seminar by George Mehaffy on Higher Education Leadership on March 31.

All seminars run on Thursdays from 2-3 p.m. and are free and open to the public.

The seminar participants will gain knowledge and find themselves inspired, said Allen.
