Little Rowdy Childcare Center at NSU-Broken Arrow now accepting applications

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — Northeastern State University’s Broken Arrow campus is now accepting applications for the Little Rowdy Childcare Center, a campus-based drop-in childcare facility serving children ages 8 weeks to 8 years of NSU students, faculty and staff. Children may receive care for up to six hours per day.

The Little Rowdy Childcare Center has been providing care for several years to support student-parents, particularly non-traditional and commuting students who often attend evening classes. The center operates like a licensed childcare facility, offering a full range of activities including literacy, math, art, and large-motor play. Its curriculum aligns with National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC) standards and Oklahoma state guidelines.

“Little Rowdy is designed to be a trusted, high-quality option for families connected to NSU and our campus community,” Denise Tyrell, Director of the Little Rowdy Childcare Center, said. “We’re excited to welcome new families and provide children with a positive start to lifelong learning.”

NSU Associate Dean of the College of Education Dr. Lisa Bisogno highlighted the importance of the program for students balancing school and family responsibilities.

“Many of our Broken Arrow students are working parents, and having access to reliable childcare is essential to completing their degrees,” Bisogno said. “The Little Rowdy Childcare Center allows students to focus on their classes while their children are engaged in a safe and supportive environment.”

NSU President Rodney Hanley emphasized the university’s commitment to student success and family-friendly resources.

“Supporting our students means supporting their whole lives,” Hanley said. “The Little Rowdy Childcare Center gives students peace of mind, knowing their children are in a safe, nurturing environment while they pursue their education.”
