Northeastern State University announces Addison Rouse as Miss NSU 2026

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Northeastern State University has announced Addison Rouse of Fort Gibson, a proud Cherokee Nation Citizen, as Miss NSU 2026 following an evening that highlighted student talent, leadership and service. Rouse’s platform was titled, Purposeful Paths: Celebrating Self & Discovering Purpose. The Miss NSU Scholarship Competition is an official preliminary to Miss Oklahoma and part of the Miss America Organization.

Arriah Herrin of Blanchard was named first runner-up. The Crowd Favorite award, selected by audience vote, went to Saylor Stidham of Lincoln, Arkansas.

NSU President Rodney Hanley said this year’s participants reflected the values and spirit of the institution.

“The Miss NSU Scholarship Competition remains one of our most cherished traditions,” Hanley said. “Addison and her fellow contestants demonstrated leadership, confidence and a commitment to service—qualities we’re proud to see represented at NSU.”

Contestants competed in multiple categories, including health and fitness, a private interview, evening wear, on-stage questionnaire and talent.

The Miss NSU tradition dates back to 1960, when Nancy Wheat was selected as the first Miss Northeastern State (College) by a vote of the student body. The first formal competition was held the following year, crowning Carol Willoughby. The event has continued annually, celebrating student achievement and scholarship for more than six decades.
