Northeastern State University announces Spring 2026 Biology and Chemistry Seminar Series
BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – The Gregg Wadley College of Science & Health Professions at Northeastern State University (NSU) is proud to announce its Spring 2026 Biology and Chemistry Seminar Series, running from Jan. 29 through April 9.
The series is designed to bridge the gap between scientific professionals, students and the local community, offering an inside look at research projects and career opportunities in the sciences.
"The series was designed to reflect current research trends within the biological and chemical sciences," Dr. Dulanjani Wijayasekara, assistant professor of biology at NSU, said. "These seminars highlight funded and ongoing research across biological, biomedical and
chemical fields. They provide students with a modern perspective on scientific advancements while opening doors for future research opportunities."
All seminars are free and open to the public. Seminars are held at noon in room BABT 226 on the NSU-Broken Arrow Campus.

Jan. 29: Dr. Julianna Goelzer
- Director of Research and Development at Cytodiagnostics

Feb. 12: Dr. Leandra Figueroa-Hall
- Principal Investigator, Laureate Institute for Brain Research
- Topic: “Differentially Expressed Astrocyte-Enriched Extracellular Vesicle miRNAs After In Vivo Lipopolysaccharide Administration in Major Depressive Disorder”
March 26: Dr. Hardeep S. Saluja
- Southwestern Oklahoma State University
- Topic: “Inside the Life of a Drug: From Molecule to Medicine”
April 9: Dr. Michael Morgan
- Northeastern State University
- Topic: “Probing Necroptotic Cell Death in Cancer Cells”
“The Biology and Chemistry Seminar Series is a testament to NSU’s commitment to scientific innovation and community engagement,” NSU President Rodney Hanley said. “We invite everyone to learn from these leaders in the field and gain insights into the latest research
shaping our world. These sessions also provide invaluable opportunities for our students to network with professionals and expand on current research.”
